Day Habilitation Program
Traditional Day Habilitation, Day Habilitation Without Walls and Pre-Vocational Services all engage in the activities listed below. All activities are tailored to individual abilities and interests. Provide each Individual with: Volunteer Opportunities - Draws upon individual strengths and interests, thereby providing experiential opportunities to hone individual skills, from basic to vocational. Educational Component- Strives to provide individuals with operational reading, writing and math skills at individualized developmental levels. Individuals are provided with the opportunity to practice skills in-house, prior to going out in the community and volunteer sites.
Community Inclusion-Focuses on enhancing each individual's ability to navigate, interact and access the services in their own neighborhood and the community at large. Individuals are encouraged to build social capital by building relationships, participate in cultural events and conduct transactions as independently as possible Fitness and Healthy Living - Promotes healthy living by offering exercise and education about making healthy choices. Cooking- Provides opportunities for individuals to learn how to make healthy snacks and meals. Socialization Group- Is a safe place where individuals can share their feelings and receive peer and clinical feedback. Music- Provides opportunities for individuals to appreciate music and participate in singing and playing various instruments.
AFTER SCHOOL RESPITE PROGRAM for STUDENTS (AGES 5-21)
The After School Respite program is designed to reinforce the social communication and language skills that students learn during the day at school by giving them guidance and support in a less structured environment. This program includes activities such as dance, art, crafts, cooking lessons, power walking, bowling, interactive technology such as computer and video games, and basic help with schoolwork. Students participate in various group activities which promote and strengthen relationships. Snacks provided according to the student's diet. This program follows the Board of Education schedule and is offered in the borough of the Bronx: Monday through Fridays from 3-6 PM with transportation provided to the student's home.
Weekend (Saturday) Respite Program (Ages 5-21)
The Weekend respite program provide children and young adults the opportunities to socialize and enjoy a wide range of recreational activities. While experiencing and fostering different relationships and through the support of our Direct Support Professional staff (DSP) the children and young adults are able to enjoy every moment. Snacks provided as well as transportation to and from the participant's home. The hours of operation are from 10am-3pm every Saturday with the exceptions of holidays and inclement weather and offered in the borough of the Bronx.
In-Home Respite Program
The in-home respite program provides family members a period of relief. With the assistance of the Direst Support Professional staff (DSP), him or her can provide alternative leisure and recreational activities while building social and communication skills. The program is based out of the person's home.
ADULT RESPITE (AGES 21 and Older)
The Adult Respite program provides temporary breaks for families and caregivers to have time to address their own needs or interests, which ultimately improves the family's ability to cope with their daily responsibilities. At the same time, this program provides the adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities who are participating in this program an opportunity to learn, socialize, engage in recreational activities and hobbies in a less structured environment than their regular day programs or day jobs. All respite services help participants learn to be more independent and develop relationships with people outside of their families. Weekly activities include art, music, dancing, games, community trips to the local parks, movies, bowling, stores and local restaurants. The hours of operations are in the evening 3pm-6pm Monday-Friday and it is offered in the borough of the Bronx.
Community Habilitation Program
The community habilitation program will provide our individuals who reside at home an opportunity to learn and develop a variety of life skills with the guidance of our Direct support Professional/ Comm Hab staff. The program is aim at keeping families united and involved with supporting both the person and family members. The DSP/Comm Hab staff will provide that personalized one on one support to assist the person to develop and grow to the best of their maximum potential alongside the family members. Furthermore, both the person and the DSP/Comm Hab staff will explore the community and build connections while learning.
