We are currently working with families and OPWDD to open a home in the Bronx for individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome. This home will be the first home operated by a voluntary agency in the five boroughs that is dedicated to serving individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome. There is only one other home located in the five boroughs that serves indivuduals with PW. It is a state-operated residence located in Queens.

New Residential Home
SDC has been granted approval to develop a residential home for six young adult individuals with developmental disabilities who presently reside outside of New York City. We are currently in the process of finding a house that would provide a comfortable home for these individuals in a community that will compliment these individuals’ growing interests and needs.
Community Habilitation
Community Habilitation is a new waiver service approved in OPWDD’s HCBS Waiver Renewal dated
October 1, 2009. The Community Habilitation service is intended to be a more efficient mechanism
for the delivery of habilitative services in the community (i.e. non‐certified settings) to facilitate
community inclusion, integration, and relationship building.
