IAHD Lifetime Achievement Award – Terry O’Neill

4 June, 2014 8:38 pm

Accepting Award Small Group

Recently, IAHD (The Institute for Applied Human Dynamics) hosted their annual award dinner. This year was a very special year for SDC, as our late Executive Director, Terry O’Neill was chosen to receive their Lifetime Achievement Award. Sadly, Terry O’Neill passed away just a few short weeks prior to accepting his award, however, his family was grateful for the honor to accept the award for him. Mr. O’Neill’s long time best friend, Ray Allen, gave a speech in his honor. We are honored and proud to have been founded by such a profoundly influential person as Terry O’Neill. While his loss is great for our agency, we are following in his footsteps by continuing his dreams. Every day, his philosophy and caring approach to working with individuals with developmental disabilities is honored, respected, and practiced at SDC.Accepting Award Small Group Denise Accepting Flowers from MSM Jackie Sieder YvetteDenise Hug Ray Allen Denise with Christian and Alex Ray Speech Yvette

SDC’s Annual Holiday Party a Celebratory Occassion!

30 December, 2013 4:41 pm

IMG_1210

IMG_1210SDC recently celebrated its annual Holiday Party.  It was a joyous celebration with music, dinner and dancing!  All staff, residents, and day program participants were invited!

The celebration got particularly exciting when Santa Claus himself showed up to deliver gifts to the residents at SDC.

The highlight of the evening was when SDC’s director, Terry O’Neill, presented a family who receives MSC services from SDC with a $500 donation, which was raised by the staff of SDC.  Janet Rivera took in her sister’s son after her sister passed away a few years ago.  Ms. Rivera was raising her son when she took in her sister’s son, who has special needs, as well as medical needs.  She honored the promise she made to her sister before she passed, that she would take care of him.

Ms. Rivera’s compassion and generous nature was noticed by her MSC, Kebbi Almonte, who nominated  this family amongst several other families in need to receive the SDC donation.  Our staff voted to help Ms. Rivera make this Christmas a special one for her loved ones.

SDC would like to give a special thanks to Sal’s Pizzeria, located at 1160 Yonkers Ave. Bronx, NY 10704, for donating a delicious dinner for our staff and residents at the Holiday Party.  SDC appreciates Sal’s Pizzeria’s generous donation.
