Welcome to Services for the Developmentally Challenged.
Back in 1996, SDC was a dream of two professionals and a parent. They met with the intention of developing a creative, innovative approach to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The general consensus is, we did it!
SDC is a small, progressive organization who puts the individual first. The individuals in our care not only have a say in the kind of treatment they receive, but their input regarding the every day operations of SDC are also taken into consideration and implemented into our programs. The individuals we serve are treated with dignity and respect, as we encourage them to become productive members of our community. The staff are heard, understood and appreciated by management and administrative personnel as we attempt to meet their needs as care givers to the most vulnerable. SDC provides an array of services including Medicaid Service Coordination, Day Habilitation and Pre-vocation training, as well as three Residential Housing Programs and family education and training. The individuals in our care and staff provide the insight to new developments and needed changes for the agency’s growth plan giving us plenty of goals to accomplish in a very short time.
Our future with OPWDD looks promising with new and progressive ideas and programs on the horizon as we transition from the old to the new. We look forward to meeting new individuals we will service and to starting new and lasting relationships with the new Direct Support Professionals.
I invite you to take a moment to visit our website if you are looking for services for a developmentally disabled individual or family support services, or you are looking to start a career in a challenging and rewarding field. Whether you are looking for services or looking to join a team of professionals dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, you will find it here at SDC.
Sincerely
Peter Dolan, MPA
